SUB INSPECTOR (SI)
Sub Inspector is the in charge of the police station and responsible person for the police adminstration of his charge.The image of the police department basically reflects on the behaviour of Sub Inspector and his subordinates.He shall takes the measures for prevention of crime and preservation of peace for speedy investigation and prosecution of cases.The duties of station Officer(SI) are set out of indian and state police acts.
Pay Scale – Rs. 9300-34800/- + grade pay Rs. 4200.
Educational Qualification – The candidate must hold a Degree awarded by any University in India, established or incorporated by or under a Central Act, Provisional Act of State or of any institution recognised by the University Grants Commission or any other equivalent qualification.
Age limit – The age of the candidates should be between 21 years to 30 years.
Relaxation in age –
i) upto a maximum of five years if a candidate belongs to a Backward Class or a Scheduled Caste or a Scheduled Tribe
ii) length of regular service limited upto a maximum of five years if a candidate is an employee of A.P. State Government (Employees of APTRANSCO, Discoms, APGENCO, APSRTC, Corporations, Municipalities, Local bodies etc. are not entitled for age relaxation).
iii) three years in addition to the length of service rendered in the Army, Naval or Air Force of the Union for the candidates who served in the Army, Naval or Air Force of the Union
iv) three years in addition to the length of service rendered as a whole time Cadet Corps Instructor in NCC provided the candidate rendered a minimum service of 6 months as a whole time Cadet Corps Instructor in NCC.
v) upto a maximum of three years if a candidate is a retrenched temporary employee in the State Census Department with a minimum service of 6 months during 1991.
Physical standards – The candidates should meet the following requirements:

a) Height: Must not be less than 160 cms.
b) Chest: Must not be less than 80 cms round the chest on full
inspiration with a minimum expansion of 3 cms.

b) Weight: Must not be less than 38 kgs
V) Physical efficiency Test PET for SI
For male candidates only
a) 100 meters race in 16 seconds
b) 1.6 Kms race in 6.5 minutes
c) Long Jump : 3.65 meters in 3 chances
d) High Jump: 1.2 meters in 3 chances
e) Shot put (16 Lbs): 4.5 meters in 3 chances
For female candidates only
a) 100 meters race in 18 seconds
b) 800 meters race in 4 minutes
c) Long Jump: 2.7 meters (9 feet) in 3 chances.
d) High Jump : 0.9 meters (3 feet) in 3 chances.
VI. Medical Standards :
A) Eye Sight : Visual Standards required for the above selection shall be as follows:
a) Right Eye Left Eye
(i) Distant Vision — 6/6 6/6
(ii) Near Vision — 0/5 0/5
b) Each eye must have a full field of vision.
c) Colour blindness, squint or any morbid condition of the eye or lids of either eye shall be deemed to be a disqualification.
B) The candidate should possess sound health and be free from any bodily defect or infirmity which will render him unfit for police service.
HEAD CONSTABLE (HC)/CONSTABLE
Head Constable in the police force in India is equal to the Sergeant in Police forces in other countries. They act as head of a group of constables in a particular police station.
Pay Scale (HC) – 5200-20200 plus a grade pay of Rs. 2400.
Pay Scale (Constable) – 5200-20200 plus a grade pay of Rs. 2000.
Educational Qualification – Intermediate or Senior Secondary School Certificate (10+2) examination from recognized Board or University or equivalent.
Age limit –
(A) Age limit for the post of Constable (Exe) Male is 18-21 years.
(B) Age limit for the post of Constable (Exe) Female is 18-25 years.
(C) Age relaxation will be as given in the notification.
Selection Process : The selection process for the post of Head constable includes a series of tests, which includes objective-type written test, detailed medical examination, interview, Physical Efficiency Test, Physical Standard Test, verification of documents and height bar test. Only the candidates clearing the physical efficiency and physical standard tests will be called for written test and only candidates getting through the written test will have to take up the medical examination and interview. In the case of recruitment of head constable of Ministerial position, candidates will have to take up short hand and type writing test as well in addition to the aforesaid tests.
Male Candidate :
- Height of the candidate should be 170 cm. and for the SC/ST the height should be 165 cm.
- Weight of the candidate of minimal range should be 50kg.
- Length of the chest should be 81 t 85 cm. and for the SC/ST candidate it should be 75 cm.
Female Candidate :
- Height of the candidate should be 157 cm. and for the SC/ST it should be 155 cm.
- Wight of the candidate should have minimum range of 40 kg.
Physical Efficiency Test (PET)
Male Candidates :
Long Jump: 11 Feet (within three chances)
High Jump: 3 1/2 Feet (within three chances)
Female Candidates :
Long Jump: 9 Feet (within three chances)
High Jump: 3 Feet (within three chances)
- Eye Sight : Minimum Distant Vision required is 6/6 & 6/9 of two eyes without wearing of glasses.
- Applicants should be physically and mentally sound and healthy.
- Applicants must possess high color vision.
- Candidates must not have squint in eyes, flat foot, varicose vein and knock knee, hammer toes, fractured limbs, flat foot, decayed teeth, stammering habit, pigeon chest or hearing problem.
- Candidates must not have any physical defect/ailment or infirmity.
- Applicants each eye must have full field of vision.
- Applicants having problem of color blindness will be disqualified in the test.
