Food Corporation of India was set up on 14 January 1965 having its first District Office at Thanjavur – rice bowl of Tamil Nadu – and headquarters at Delhi under the Food Corporations Act 1964.  It is one of the largest corporations in India and probably the largest supply chain management in Asia (Second in world ). Food Corporation of India operates through it Field Offices/District Offices which are headed by an Assistant general manager, designated as Area Manager. Under Area Manager control there are Managers to deal with each and every section viz., sales, contracts,sl-tl, movement, establishment, quality control, operational accounts etc., who consolidate the field level operations and through the area managers’ authorisation, they transmit the necessary information and periodical statements to regional offices of their respective regions. Regional offices are headed by a general manager, who is in most of the cases from Indian Revenue Service, Indian Administrative Service /All India Services under deputation.

FCI has been divided into 5 zones viz. North, South, East, West & North-East with a Zonal Office in each zone. Each zone is further divided into regions with a regional office in one region. All the Regional Offices are under the control of Zonal Offices which are headed by an Executive Director, who in most of the cases is from Indian Administrative Service or Indian Revenue Service under deputation.


The Food Corporation of India procures Rice and Wheat from farmers through many routes like Paddy purchase centres/Mill Levy/Custom Milling and stores them in depots.  FCI maintains many types of depots like Food Storage Depots and Buffer Storage Complexes and Private Equity Godowns and also implemented latest storage methods of silo storage facilities which are located at hapur in UttarPradesh and Elavur in Tamil Nadu. The stocks are transported throughout India and issued to the State Government nominees at the rates declared by the Government of India for further distribution under the Public Distribution System (PDS) for the consumption of the ration card holders.

Food Corporation of  India has announced to release various vacancies for the year 2017 in the upcoming few months.  The vacanies will be released for various posts such as Assistant Grade I, Gr. II Grade III Grade IV, Assistant General Manager (AMG), General Administration, Accounts & Laws & Medical Officer (MO), MGT Trainee, Managers, MT (Management Trainee) for all type of courses eligibility as Civil Eng., Mech Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Hindi – Manager, MT-General, Depot, Movement, Accounts, Technical and many other  posts.  Eligible candidates may apply online from the FCI web portal before the due date whichever will be mentioned in the Recruitment Advertisement.  It will be a good job opportunity for the Job Aspirants who were seeking for the secure job.

Name of the Subject/ Discipline:

Eligibility Criteria :-

  • Education –  Graduation in any discipline from recognised University. (The educational qualification can be relaxed in case of exceptionally outstanding/ excellent sports person).
  • Age –  18 to 27 years
  • Other Eligibility – In any of the above disciplines the person should in the year immediately preceding his application for tournament in the corporation have represented. i) The country in any International Competition and/ or   ii) A state in the National Competition; and/ or   iii) A combined University team in the National and World University International Competition; and/ or iv) A university in the Inter University Tournament conducted by the Inter University Sports Board; and/ or   v) State Schools in the National sports/games for Schools conducted by the All-India School Games Federation.

Pay Scale : Rs.9300/- – Rs.22,940/-.

Selection Procedure  : Selection will be through process of Trials and verification of original documents.

Applicant must enclose the following documents along with application:

  1. Application form.
  2. Passport Size photograph 2 (Two), one duly pasted on application form.
  3. Date of Birth proof (10th Certificate/Municipal Certificate issued by concerned authority) (Self-attested).
  4. Educational Certificates. (Self-attested).
  5. Character certificate.

Eligibility Criteria :-

  1. J.E. (Civil Engineering) – Degree in Electrical Engineering or Diploma in Electrical Engineering with one year experience in the case of Diploma holders only.
  2. J.E. (Mechanical Engineering) – Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering with one year experience in the case of Diploma holders.
  3. J.E. (Electrical Engineering) – Degree in Electrical Engineering or Diploma in Electrical Engineering with one year experience in the case of Diploma holders only.
  4. AG-II (Hindi) – Essential: 1. Degree of a recognized University with Hindi as the main subject. 2. Proficiency in English. 3. One year experience of translation from English to Hindi and vice-versa.  Desirable : Post Graduate qualification in Hindi.
  5. Typist (Hindi) – (1) Graduation or equivalent. (2) 30 W.P.M speed in Hindi Typing. (3) Preference will be given to the candidates knowing by-lingual typing (English and Hindi) and Computer knowledge.
  6. AG-III (General) – Graduate Degree in any discipline from a recognized University with proficiency in use of computers.
  7. AG-III (Accounts) –  Bachelor of Commerce from a recognized University with proficiency in use of computers.
  8. AG-III (Technical) – 1)  B.Sc. in Agriculture from a recognized University. Or B.Sc. with any of the following subject from a recognized University: Botany / Zoology / Bio-Technology / Bio-Chemistry / Microbiology / Food Science. Or B. Tech / BE in Food Science / Food Science and Technology / Agricultural Engineering / Bio-Technology from a recognized University / an institution approved by AICTE.  2) Proficiency in use of computers
  9. AG-III (Depot) – Graduate Degree in any discipline from a recognized University with proficiency in use of computers.

Age limit –  Candidates age should be 28 years for S.No-1, 2, 3 & 4, 25 years for S.No-5, 27 years for S.No-6, 7, 8 & 9 as on 01-01-2015. Age relaxations are applicable as per rules.

Pay Scale :-

Junior Engineer :  Rs 11100 – Rs 29950

AG-II (Hindi) : Rs 9900 – Rs 25530

For other posts : Rs 9300 – Rs 22940

Selection Procedure :-

Candidates are selected based on their performance in written test and skill test.

Pattern Of Written Test :-   The written test  will comprise of

A)  One Paper : Paper-I only for AG-III(General) and AG-III(Depot)  & Paper- III only for Typist (Hindi)


Paper III and Paper IV for  {AG II (Hindi)}.

C)  Note: WRITTEN TEST for Paper – I & Paper – II and Paper – III & Paper IV shall be held in single sitting only.

Paper-I (Duration-90 Minutes) : 120 Multiple Choice Questions of General Aptitude consisting of Reasoning, Data Analysis, English Language, Computer Proficiency, General Awareness, General Intelligence, Current Events, Numerical Ability, Data Interpretation for {Junior Engineer (Civil Engineering)},  {Junior Engineer (Electrical Engineering)},  {Junior Engineer (Mechanical Engineering)}, {AG-III (General)},  {AG-III (Accounts)},  {AG – III (Technical)} &  { AG-III ( Depot)}.

Paper-II (Duration-90 minutes) :

  • 120 Multiple Choice Questions on Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering for Candidates applying for {Junior Engineer (Civil Engineering)},   {Junior Engineer (Electrical Engineering)},  {Junior Engineer (Mechanical Engineering)} to assess the post specific technical knowledge of relevant stream.
  • 120 Multiple Choice Questions on Commerce particularly General Accounting and Finance for candidates applying for  {Assistant Grade-III (Accounts)} to assess the post specific technical knowledge of relevant stream.
  • 120 Multiple Choice Questions on Biological Sciences for candidates applying for the Post {Assistant Grade-III (Technical)} to assess the post specific technical knowledge of relevant stream.

Paper-III (Duration-90 minutes) : 120 Multiple Choice Questions on General Hindi, General English, General Awareness, General Intelligence and Computer Knowledge for candidates applying for the Post {Assistant Grade-II (Hindi)} and  {Typist (Hindi)}.

Paper-IV (Duration-90 minutes): Translation – 2 Passages, one each from Hindi to English and vice-versa and two essays each in Hindi & English for candidates applying for the Post  {Assistant Grade-II (Hindi)}.

Educational Qualification :

  • Candidates must possess graduation. (OR)
  • CA/ICWA/CS/ B.com with MBA/MCA. (OR)
  • B.E or B.tech in Civil/mechanical/Electrical/ food Science/Bio technology. (OR)
  • Masters Degree in Hindi Subject from a recognised University with minimum of 60% marks.

Pay Scale :

Management Trainee: Rs.16000/- per month

Manager: From Rs.16400/- to Rs.40500/-

Selection Procedure :

  • The candidate as Management Trainee will be selected through Written Test, Group Discussion and Interview.
  • The candidate as Manager will be appointed through Written Test and Interview.
