ITBP Selection Process 2015 – 16 Physical Standard Exam Pattern Syllabus

ITBP has been Recruiting deserving candidates to strengthen its man power and gives a chance to the brave candidates who have a vision with the talent to expand and contribute in the growth of the India. ITBP along with BSF has not only been guarding and securing the nation’s boarders but it has been participating in the internal activities like “Swachh Ganga” Mission and support growth of the nation. ITBP recruits male & female Indian citizens (including a subject of Nepal & Bhutan) for filling up vacancies in the department. Although the gender based reservation does not apply but ITBPF has been committed to encourages recruitment of women. The most common posts for which ITBP recruits candidates through advertisement in Group C ( Non- Gazetted) posts the include Head Constable ASI Stenographer Clerk etc. Before Applying candidates must understand that they can be posted anywhere in India and even abroad. On appointment they shall be entitled for the pension benefits as per the New Restructured Defined Contributory Pension Scheme.


For ASI/Steno (Direct Entry and Departmental candidates)

(a) Height Bar Test – At the very beginning of recruitment process, candidates shall be asked to go through the height bar test. The candidates not meeting the prescribed height will be eliminated.

(b) Race – The candidates, who qualify the Height Bar Test, shall be subjected to qualify 1.6 Kms race to be completed within 10 minutes (for male) and 12 minutes (for female) candidates before appearing for further tests. No marks will be awarded for this test and it will be only qualifying in nature.

Departmental candidates and Ex Service Men will not to appear in the event of Race.

Checking of documents

The original documents of candidates, who qualify the race, will be checked by the Board. Original documents will be returned on the spot after verification and photocopies will be retained with the application form. Those who clear this stage will go to Physical

Standard Test (PST)

(d) Physical Standard Test (PST): Candidates found eligible in documentation will be screened for height, chest (chest measurement for male candidates only) and weight measurements by the Board. Those who do not meet the required physical measurements shall be eliminated at this stage.

Written Examination (100 Marks)

The candidates qualified in PST shall be required to pass the written examination (Objective type-OMR Based) consisting of the following:-


Qualifying marks shall be 35% for General Candidates & Ex-Servicemen and 33% for Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribes /Other Backward Class in the written examination. Only 20 times qualified candidates (Direct Entry) in Written Test will be called for Skill Test on the basis of merit in each category.

  • The candidates shall be required to answer in OMR sheet which will be signed both by the candidate and invigilator.
  • The OMR answer sheet of written test shall be processed/ scanned in an electronic machine. Any wrong entry of roll number, name, question booklet number, question paper series etc shall render the OMR sheet invalid and the same shall not be evaluated. The concerned candidates shall be held responsible for such mistake on their part.
  • The candidates will be allowed to take question paper after completion of Examination.

Skill Test (20 Marks)

The candidates, who qualify the above written examination, shall be required to appear in the skill test i.e. shorthand and typing given as under:- i) Dictation – 10 minutes @ 80 words per minute (English or Hindi). ii) Transcription- 50 minutes in English on computer; or 65 minutes in Hindi on computer.

Merit List 

Merit List will be prepared and Posted on the official website candidates who find there names in the list will be starting their very responsible duty of a brave soldier and will be respected by 125 crore Indians.
