The Meghalaya Public Service commission which is controlled by the state government and its higher authority. It came into existence on September 14th 1972.The first member of the Public Service Commission was Shri. G.C. Momin.He was the chairman of the committee from 22.09.1972 to 21.09.1978.The first Office of the Commission was housed in the building of the Public works Department of Lower Lachumiere, Shillong. But due to  increase in the works load and staff members of the Commission the premises was therefore shifted to the 1st floor of the House Shoe Building, Lower Lachumiere, Shillong in May,1993. The Role and Function of Public Service Commission have been specified in Article 320 of the Constitution of India.The duty of the Union and the State Public Service Commissions is to conduct examinations for appointments to the services of the Union and the services of the State respectively. It shall also be the duty of the Union Public Service Commission, if requested by any two or more States so to do, to assist those States in framing and operating schemes of joint recruitment for any services for which candidates possessing special qualifications are required. They release  recruitment to services & posts under the State through conduct of competitive examinations.

Veterinary Department : 

Candidate should have B.V.Sc. Degree in Veterinary Science from any recognized university. AND Must possess recognized qualification included in the first or second schedule to the Indian Veterinary Council Act, 1984 and registered with the State Veterinary Council/Veterinary Council of India as laid down in Schedule II (a).

 Forests & Environment Department :

Candidates should have Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent) in Science or Engineering.

Assistant Inspectors of Excise

Candidate should have passed P.U.C. or HSSLC or 12th Standard Examination in any stream from any Institution recognized by the Government of Meghalaya.

Assistant System Engineer

At least 2nd class bachelor degree in computer science and engineering/computer engineering/computer technology/IT course from recognized college or university/ or other recognized technical institute offering degree courses in electronics.

Government Secondary Schools under Education Department :

Candidate should have Graduate in Arts/Science/Commerce with B.Ed and Hindi as one of the subject at Degree Level from a recognized university. OR Must have Graduate in Arts/Science/Commerce with B.Ed. having separate degree qualification like ‘RATNA’ in Hindi Language from a recognized University.

Assistant Teacher

Graduate in any stream from recognized University in India with Bengali as one of the subject and preferably with B.Ed.


Age limit for these exams is candidates should be between the age of 18 years to 28 years of age.SC/ST and other caste have age relaxation of 2 to 3 years of age.Any candidates exceeding the age limit shall not be permitted to sit in the exam.
