The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation came into existence as anIndependent Ministry on 15.10.1999 after the merger of the Department of Statistics and the Department of Programme Implementation. The Ministry has two wings, one relating to Statistics and the other Programme Implementation. The Statistics Wing called the National Statistical Office(NSO) consists of the Central Statistical Office (CSO), the Computer Centre and the National Sample Survey Office (NSSO). The Programme Implementation Wing has three Divisions, namely, (i) Twenty Point Programme (ii) Infrastructure Monitoring and Project Monitoring and (iii) Member of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme. Besides these two wings, there is National Statistical Commissioncreated through a Resolution of Government of India (MOSPI) and one autonomous Institute, viz., Indian Statistical Institute declared as an institute of National importance by an Act of Parliament. The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation is concerned with coverage and quality aspects of statistics released. The surveys conducted by the Ministry are based on scientific sampling methods. The current head of the ministry is General V. K. Singh.

Age limit : The minimum age limit of aspirants should be 21 years, and the maximum age limit of the applicants should be 30 years as on 1st July 2016. The age relaxation is applicable for the reserved category candidates as per the government rules and regulations.
Educational Qualification : Applicants must have passed Graduation degree from any recognised university with Statistics/Economics/Mathematics as one of the papers at degree level. And also must have knowledge of English, local language and computer applications like MS Office etc.
Desirable Qualification : Experience in conducting field survey and field data collection work in a Governement Organization. Such Candidates will be prferred at the time of assessing the suitability for the job.
Selection Process : Candidates will be shortlisted and if required will be called for Interactive Session to make an Assessment for Selection.
