South Indian Bank Limited (SIB)was registered as a private Limited Company under the companies Act of 1913 and commenced business on 29-01-1929 at Round South, Thrissur. The South Indian Bank Ltd., was formed by a group of 44 enterprising men of Thrissur who contributed Rs.500/ – each to the initial paid up capital of Rs.22,000/ -. Their main objective was to serve the merchant community of Thrissur by freeing them from the clutches of the money lenders who charged exorbitant rates of interest.The bank received very good support from the public at large. Initially the growth was slow but steady. The number of branches opened each year testified its stability and popularity. It was included in the second schedule of the Reserve Bank of India and became a scheduled Bank on 07-08-1946. SIB was the first scheduled Bank in the private sector in Kerala to get the license under section 22 of the Banking Regulation Act 1949 from RBI on 17-06-1957.   South Indian Actor Mammootty is the global brand ambassador of the bank.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

Probationary Officers- Scale I

Qualification :

  • X/ SSLC : 60 % and above,
  • XII/ HSC : 60 % and above &
  • Graduation: Pass in Graduation under 10+2+3/4 regular course with 60% and above.

Age : Not more than 25 years. Upper age limit will be relaxed by five years in the case of SC/ST candidates.

Probationary Clerks

Qualification :

Work Experience : Minimum 10 years of experience as a Forex dealer in any Commercial Bank/ Reputed Financial institutions/ Corporate, of which 5 years experience as a trader/ Chief Dealer.

Age : Not exceeding 45 years. Relaxation of upper age limit by 5 years for SC/ ST candidates.

Chief Manager (Senior Dealer- Forex)-Scale IV

Qualification : Graduation in any discipline from a recognised University OR PG/ MBA/ CA/ CMA

Work Experience : Minimum 5 years of experience as a Forex/ Fixed income dealer in any Commercial Bank/ Reputed Financial institutions / Corporate. Dealers with trading experience will be preferred.

Age : Not exceeding 40 years. Relaxation of upper age limit by 5 years for SC/ ST candidates.

Forex Dealers – Scale II/Scale III

Qualification : Graduation in any discipline from a recognised University OR PG/ MBA/ CA/ CMA

Work Experience : Minimum 3 years of experience in Forex/ Fixed Income Trading Desks of any Commercial Bank/ Reputed financial institutions Dealers with trading experience will be preferred.

Age : Not exceeding 30 years. Relaxation of upper age limit by 5 years for SC/ ST candidates.

SALARY STRUCTURE 

Probationary Officer : IBA approved pay scale of Rs. 23700– 980/7 – 30560- 1145/2 – 32850- 1310/7 – 42020 plus DA, HRA & other allowances. Eligible for performance linked incentive applicable to Scale I officers as per the scheme in vogue.

Probationary Clerk : Rs. 11765 – 655/3 – 13730 – 815/3 – 16175 – 980/4 – 20095 – 1145/7 – 28110 – 2120/1 – 30230 – 1310/1 – 31540

Chief Dealer- Forex (Scale V) : IBA Package as applicable to Scale V. Higher fitment of Basic Pay and Allowance if necessary. Will be eligible for Performance Linked Incentives. All other benefits as applicable to Scale V in the bank will be offered to the candidate.

Senior Dealer- Forex (Scale IV) : IBA Package as applicable to Scale V. Higher fitment of Basic Pay and Allowance if necessary. Will be eligible for Performance Linked Incentives. All other benefits as applicable to Scale V in the bank will be offered to the candidate.

Forex Dealers – Scale II/Scale III : 

  • Scale II: IBA approved pay scale of Rs. 31705 – 1145/1 – 32850 – 1310/10 – 45950. plus DA, HRA & other allowances.

SELECTION PROCEDURE 

Probationary Officers : 

The selection will be made on the basis of Online Test, Group Discussion and Personal Interview.

  • Candidates will be shortlisted for Group discussion, on the basis of performance in Online test.
  • Candidates will be shortlisted for Interview, on the basis of performance in Group discussion.
  • The final selection shall be made on the basis of Personal Interview.
  • Bank reserves the right to make required modifications in the selection process considering the number of applications for the post.

Probationary Clerk :

Online Test and Personal Interview

• Candidates will be shortlisted for Interview, on the basis of performance in Online test. The final selection shall be made on the basis of Personal Interview.

Exam Pattern (PO & Clerk)  :

  • General Awareness (with special reference to banking sector) – 50 question (50 Marks)
  • Reasoning – 40 question (40 Marks)
  • English Language – 40 question (40 Marks)
  • Computer Knowledge – 30 question (30 Marks)
  • Quantitative Aptitude – 40 question (40 Marks)

Note : Composite time of 120 minutes will be given to attempt all questions across tests There will be ¼ penalty for wrong answers Tests will be made available on in English.

Senior Dealer- Forex (Scale IV) : 

1. Initial short listing will be done by the Bank based on the stipulated eligibility criteria.

2. Personal Interview

Forex Dealers – Scale II/Scale III : 

The final Selection of candidates to the above mentioned posts will be done based on the discretion of the Bank considering the eligibility criteria and suitability for the post.

HOW TO APPLY

1) The candidate must ensure that he/she fulfills all the eligibility criteria with respect to age, educational qualifications, place of domicile etc. in respect of the post for which he/she is making the application. If the information furnished by the candidate is found to be false at later date, the selection / appointment shall be liable for termination.

2) The Candidates have to  apply online only through the Bank’s website www.southindianbank.com before the due date.

3) The applicants are requested to ensure that the information filled in the Online Application Form is correct before submitting the application form.

4) Candidates will have to enter their basic details and upload the photograph and signature as per the specifications required. Copies of the photograph may be retained for use at the time of written test and interview.

5) Please note, there will be a system generated User Id (Application Ref. Id) and candidates must enter their password to login and print the application form. PLEASE NOTE DOWN THE USER ID (APPLICATION REF. ID) AND PASSWORD CAREFULLY FOR TAKING PRINT OUT OF THE CALL LETTER FOR WRITTEN TEST/ GD & PI LATER ON. An email containing details of the registration will be sent to the e-mail Id given by the candidate.

6) ) Keep a copy of the application printout for future reference.

7) Call Letters for the written examination/ GD & Interview can be downloaded / printed from the main site of bank soon after the last date for remitting application fee and will not be sent separately.

8) Please note that physical copy of the Application need not be sent to the bank.
