Public Service Commission, West Bengal is a constitutional body for the recruitment of candidates to the various civil services posts across the state. Established in April 1937 on the recommendation of Simon Commission under the Government of India Act, 1935, it comprises of one chairman and four other members. The commission undertakes following functions and activities : 1) Conducts examinations for appointment to the various civil services of the state. 2) Provides advice to the government on Methods of recruitment to civil services posts and Principles to be followed while making selections of the candidates and, promotions and transfers to civil services and posts. 3) On disciplinary matter concerned with the civil servants. 4) Claim made by a civil servant with respect to the recovery of expenditure incurred by him/her in defending himself/herself in the court of law against the legal proceeding initiated by the government for not execution of his or her duty. 5) Claim made by a civil servant in respect to injuries sustained by him/her while serving the state government. Besides this the commission also conducts the following: (i) Departmental Tests in May and November (ii) Entrance examination for for IMA, Dehradun in February and August. (iii) Supervision of temporary appointments in Government Departments (iv) advises the departments for regular appointments through the Commission in place of temporary appointments.

WB Audit and Accounts Service : Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce from recognized university.
Veterinary Officer : Candidates should possess Degree in veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry or Veterinary Science from recognized University/ Institute.
Assistant Engineer (Electrical) : Candidates should have Degree in Electrical Engineering.
Assistant Public Prosecutors : (i) A degree in Law from a recognized University. (ii) A minimum 3 (three) years continuous practice as a Lawyer.
WB Audit and Accounts Service : 21 years to 32 years.
Assistant Public Prosecutors : Not less than 25 years and not more than 35 years.
Veterinary Officer :21 years to 32 years.
Assistant Engineer (Electrical) :21 years to 32 years.
SALARY STRUCTURE :-
The Salary Structure For WBPSC Group A, B, C, & D posts is as follows :
(PB-4A) Rs.15,600-42,000/- + Grade Pay of Rs.5,400/- besides D.A., M.A. and H.R.A. admissible as per rules.

The Admit Cards will be available to the candidate’s atleast 15 – 20 days before the commencement of exam. For the Admit Cards the Candidate have visit the official website of WBPSC i.e. www.pscwb.org.in and click on the Admit card link then you will be redirected to the admit card page where you need to enter your full name, Yours fathers full name and Date of Birth and click on submit button to get your e-admit card on your desktop screen.
EXAM ANALYSICS/REVIEW :-
Admission to the West Bengal PSC Civil Service ( Executive ) Main Examination 2015 is provisional subject to verification of eligibility of the candidates in all respects on the basis of the original certificates to be furnished when asked for by the West Bengal Public Service Commission. Candidates should note that if at any stage after issue of the WBPSC Civil Service ( Executive ) main exam admit card they are found to be ineligible for admission to the examination in terms of advertisement for the examination, their candidature will be cancelled without further reference to them.
Exam Pattern :
The Main Examination will consist of five Compulsory papers and two optional subjects(one by group C and D).
► Each Paper will be of 03:00 hours (180 minutes).
► Each compulsory and optional Paper will consist of 100 and 200 marks respectively.
► There will also be a Personality Test of 200 (100 for group D) marks after written exam.
Exam Syllabus : Exam Syllabus for Civil Service (Executive) Main written exam Exam is given below :-
Compulsory Papers :
Paper I : Bengali/Hindi/Urdu/Nepali Essay, Précis Writing, Composition and Translation from English into Bengali/Hindi/Urdu/Nepali (Marks 40+20+20+20).
Paper II : English Essay, Précis Writing, Composition and Translation from Bengali/Hindi/ Urdu/Nepali into English (Marks 40+20+20+20).
Paper III : General Knowledge and Current Affairs (Excluding questions on the Constitution of India and the Five-year Plans (Marks 50+50).
Paper IV : The Constitution of India and the Five-year Plans (Marks 50+50).
Paper V : Arithmetic and Test of Reasoning (Marks 50+50).
Paper VI : There will another Paper of General Studies comprises of –
Science & Technological advancement, Environment & Current Affairs (Marks 40+20+40)
ANSWER KEY :-
After the Commission conducts the exam successfully the Answer keys of the written exam is uploaded in the official site within 3-4 days after the exam. The candidates can cross check these Answer keys and judge their scores. The commission also ask for objection in the Answer keys. The Candidates’ can object regarding the Answer keys before the due date. Their objections will be settled by the Officials.
